DAF the natural decision for bottled mineral water company, Hildon
Producer and supplier of ‘high end’ Natural Mineral Water, Hildon, has now put on the road two new Euro-6 DAF LF 280 FA 18-tonne rigids to service its palletised distribution of bottled Natural Mineral Water to London and the Home Counties. The DAF delivery was prompted by the prospect of ‘exceptionally good’ service levels from supplying dealer, Adams Morey in Southampton, and following low service levels from Hildon’s previous truck supplier.
The switch to DAF also coincides with a move to outright ownership, rather than leasing, and, again, due in no small part to the aftersales benefits expected of DAF Trucks and Adams Morey.
Already, and as a result of its experience with DAF, Hildon has place an additional order for a high-spec Euro-6 DAF CF 460 FAS drawbar unit.
“We needed assurance of very high levels of service from DAF and its dealer in Southampton,” said Hildon’s Simon Prosser, UK & Export Distribution Manager, “and I’m very happy to report that they’ve delivered on their promises – support has been exceptionally good,” he said.
Hildon’s previous experience while leasing its DAF 15-tonners had brought Adams Morey to the attention of Simon Prosser. Prosser was keen to realise the advantages of full manufacturer warranty supported by DAF MultiSupport Repair & Maintenance packages which outright ownership would bring. “We leased our existing DAF 15-tonners and Adams Morey had proved its credentials as a first-rate service provider, so, the move to outright purchase with our latest 18-tonners was the logical next step. As a result,” he said, “we’ve taken five-year R&M packages for both trucks.
Hildon’s bottled and palletised Natural Mineral Water products are delivered daily to London by the own-account operator using its DAF rigids. End users include the Grosvenor House Hotel, the Royal Albert Hall, Tate Galleries and the Royal Opera House. Regional distribution to the Home Counties includes equally high profile customers such as Chewton Glen country house hotel, Lainston House and The Cliveden.
“At the end of the day,” added Prosser, “DAF have delivered us an extremely reliable, high quality truck – our drivers will testify to that. Moreover, we now have a cost effective transport solution and, crucially for me, the vehicles are supported by an aftersales package that continues to impress.”
Since Hildon’s launch in 1989 it has gained international recognition as one of the most iconic British bottled water brands, bottled at source on the Hildon Estate in the Test Valley, Hampshire. Synonymous with style and quality, Hildon supplies some of the most prestigious restaurants, hotels and venues in the UK, and to 36 countries worldwide.
